Event Preview: The Running Festival at Goodwood 2018
The Running Festival at Goodwood takes place this Sunday 14th October 2018 and is set to be a celebratory end-of-season gathering, featuring a Family Mile, 10K and Half Marathon.
Organisers UK Run Events will be treating runners to a true race-themed experience, with all races taking place on the smooth tarmac of the race circuit, a glorious finish in the pit lane, huge support from the grandstand and a beautiful bespoke medal complete with chequered flag ribbon.
The event also offers a unique shopping experience with the Pop Up Pit Shops selling a range of well-known brands and innovative accessories for runners and including Up & Running, Ronhill, Hilly, Altra, Run Mummy Run, The Buddy Pouch, Runderwear, Perfect Chaos, Runr, and Halo Headband UK. Runners can also take advantage of free pre and post-race massage, meet the pacers, chat to the race partners and refuel in the fully equipped event village.
A team of pacers will be helping runners to achieve their target times in both the 10K and Half Marathon races whilst providing a fun, social experience. The 10K pacers will be covering 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 and 75 minutes, while the Half Marathon pacers will be covering 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20 and 2:30.
Official Charity Partner RNLI will also be present on the day, cheering on the many runners fundraising to help save lives at sea and launching its annual Reindeer Runs at the event.

Organisers UK Run Events have been keen to continue their drive to offer water cartons at the finish line, as they did at the highly successful Shrewsbury Half Marathon this summer. Finishers at The Running Festival at Goodwood will therefore receive a carton of One Water as they cross the finish line, as well as bottles of One Water on the course. One Water is British still spring water and the UK’s leading ethical drinks brand, with every bottle sold helping to fund life-changing clean water and sanitation projects in the world’s poorest communities.
The Running Festival at Goodwood is looking forward to making its mark as an end-of-season Run Party welcoming many different running clubs and communities. Run Mummy Run will have a welcome area in the Jackie Stewart Pavilion as well as its own waves in the 10K and Half Marathon, with over 250 women confirmed for the event.
Race Director Joe Williams commented, “We are incredibly excited about The Running Festival at Goodwood and we can’t wait to welcome everyone this weekend. It will be wonderful to see young runners and their families kick off the day with the Family Mile and then cheer on the 10K and Half Marathon runners, many of whom will be raising valuable funds for the RNLI. There will also be a good number of runners contributing their race effort to Ronhill’s #RunEveryDay challenge. Good luck to all our runners and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!”
Up & Running is the Official Sports Retail Partner and Ronhill, Hilly and Altra are the Official Sports Brand Partners for The Running Festival at Goodwood.
A handful of last places are available for the Family Mile and cost £8 for children aged 11+ running unaccompanied, and also per adult. Entry costs £5 per child aged 4-10 accompanied by an adult. All finishers of the Family Mile receive a medal.
